Easy Doughnuts

I love the taste of warm fluffy doughnuts. I’m not the only fan, my daughter loves them so much, she asks for doughnuts instead of a birthday cake. With the frosting and sprinkles, they make an excellent substitute!

Don’t be afraid of making doughnuts, they're really easy to do, especially when you have a kitchen aid mixer. Put the dough hook on and let the mixer do the hard work for ya! I can’t wait for you to taste these yummy doughnuts!! Lets get started!

INGREDIENTS:

4 Tbl. Butter softened

6 1/2 T granulated sugar

1 1/2 C Warm milk

2 Eggs

2 T Quick rise yeast

5 1/2 c. All-purpose flour

1 tsp. Salt

3-4 C vegetable oil or crisco

GLAZE

1/3 C Butter softened

2 C Confectioner sugar

2 tsp. Vanilla

4 T Milk or as needed for consistency

DIRECTIONS

1. Sprinkle the yeast over the warm milk and let sit for 5 minutes until foamy.

2. In your kitchen Aid bowl ,with the dough hook on, add the yeast mixture, sugar, softened butter, salt, eggs, and 2 cups of flour. Mix for a few minutes on low speed. Beat in the remaining flour, 1/2 cup at a time, until the dough doesn’t stick to the sides of the bowl. Let the dough rise, until it has doubled in size, it’s ready to be shaped.

3. Roll out dough to 1/2 inch thickness. Use a doughnut cutter to cut out doughnuts. Let rise till they double in size.

4.Put 3 to 4 cups of vegetable oil or crisco in a dutch oven and heat to 350 degrees on medium heat. Slowly slide doughnuts into oil and cook until golden brown on both sides. Carefully take the doughnuts out to drain on a wire rack.

5. Mix together the ingredients for the glaze until you get the consistency you like. We like to add food coloring and all kinds of fun toppings.

Look how cute these doughnuts turned out and so delicious. The grand babies had fun decorating and putting on the toppings they love. You can tell on these cute faces from the oldest to the youngest they loved them too! It’s so hard to only have one. I hope you have fun making memories with your kids and making these delicious doughnuts! Let me know in the comments what toppings your family enjoyed on your doughnuts!
