Affordable + Basic Starter Kitchen Checklist- Wedding Registry or First Home Checklist

When I was creating my wedding registry- I struggled to know what to put on it and what was worth it. If you know me- you know we are members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. We didn't live together before we were married- and, I lived in an apartment in college with many different girls who just shared items so we were basically starting over. This list is for you if you are in the same boat as me!

One thing I'm glad we did was an Amazon Wedding Registry. It was actually one of the best decisions I made getting married.

I couldn't believe how easy it was for my guests to purchase something in their price range and just send it to us, or send it to themselves and wrap it. Amazon also offers a gift wrapping option- which is another great feature that it allows your guests. I had many family members tell me how much they loved it. I had family members from out-of-state who ordered and sent the gift right to me so they didn't have to bring it on their luggage on the plane. I also had an aunt who couldn't make it and sent me our gift- she was so grateful to not have to package it up and send it to me.

I also loved how I could add things to my registry from anywhere on the web. You just have to install the app to your browser!

Other reasons you'd love an amazon wedding registry:

- Easy returns and exchanges: If the color isn’t right or the couch doesn’t fit, it's okay! You have 180 days to return a wedding gift from you registry. - Shared gifting on big ticket items: Feel free to add those big ticket items onto your registry. With Amazon Wedding Registry, you get access to a Group Gifting feature so friends and family can all contribute to pricier items they love. - 2 gifts for the price of 1: If your guests buy registry items from select brands, you get a free gift! - Special discounts just for you: Is there that one must-have gift still remaining on the registry? You can enjoy a one-time 20% off discount on anything left on their registry before the big day.

So if you do anything- make a Amazon Wedding Registry.

Now on to the best part- SHOPPING!

KITCHEN CHECKLIST:

  • Blender/ Food Processor Combo-I have this set and it is great quality for the price.

  • Stand Mixer- we LOVE our Kitchenaid- well worth the price. We also have this attachment- pouring shield.

  • Hand Mixer- Kitchen Aid makes the best mixers, hands down. We love this one.

  • Slow Cooker / Pressure Cooker all-in-one - an amazing buy for the busy couple. Instant Pot is the best and has both features.

  • Rice Cooker- We love this one, it is so cheap but it has the steamer basket which we use constantly with veggies.

  • Toaster- We have this one.

  • Waffle Iron- this is something we wish we wouldn't have skimped on. We love breakfast food! We are saving to get this one. But if you are on a budget get this one.

  • Griddle- We want to get this one. But we have this one- and it works great.

  • Knifes- We have this set, they are great and have held up well! We don't need a block because of the covers so they have a space in the drawer.

  • Pans- In our two years of marriage we have been through a whole set of pans. And we are so done with it. The brand we burned through in under a year of marriage were Rachel Ray. Spend a chunk of money on a set like this- you won't regret it.

  • Cast Iron Skillet- this is an affordable, great option!

  • Casserole Dish- We love love Pyrex! High quality for a good price. We love this set because of the lids. We can bake something in it and then throw the lid on and put it in the fridge if we have leftovers.

  • Cooking Utensil Set (including wooden spoons, spatulas, tongs, and a whisk)

  • Measuring Cups- Having a smaller set like this one, and the glass Pyrex kind like this one is really great.

  • Measuring Spoons- this is a great set! It is really nice that there are two sides so you can measure many things is the best.

  • Mixing Bowls- this is the best set, again, the lids are nice because if I am whipping together whipped cream I can just throw the bowl in the fridge with the lid on.

  • Colander- This one is great for small spaces. And these are nice to have for smaller items.

  • Peeler

  • Cutting Board (both wooden and plastic)- We got some cheap thin plastic cutting boards and they were horrible. Steer clear of anything like it. Instead get this plastic one and this wooden one.

  • Cheese Grater- LOVE this cheese grater. I like that you can stand it up and it doesn't slip.

  • Ice Cream Scoop- This one is so cute and comes in a variety of colors.

  • Canisters- I have several different canister sets to organize my small kitchen. We love many like this one, this one, and this one.

  • Baking Pan Set- this is another thing not to be cheap on. We already went through one of these sets- we did not like the Amazon Basics Set. This one is a better option.

  • Rolling Pin- we loved this rolling pin and still use it to this day. One of the highest quality items we received for the kitchen.

  • Glasses- we have a really cheap set and don't love them. Nana has this set and it is a sturdy glass.

  • Silverware

  • Plates and Bowls Set- this is where you can have so much fun!! Ours isn't sold anymore but this one is similar.

  • Butter Dish

  • Salt and Pepper Grinders or Shakers- if you buy grinders, don't buy cheap they will fall apart. We have shakers- this is a cute set.

I hope this helps you as you create your registry or shop for your first home!
