Winter Candy Apple Cake

I hope y’all are enjoying your holidays as much as we are! Our family has a Winter bucket list, and we’ve enjoyed checking off each activity. Number one on the list was to build a snowman! We checked that off on December 2nd, when we woke up to beautiful snowflakes blanketing the ground. Our little four year old was in Winter heaven!

Another activity on our list is Christmas baking. This Winter Candy Apple Cake is a family favorite. It tastes as good as it sounds, and is a lot easier to make than you’d think. I don’t like to make many complicated recipes. Cooking is suppose to be fun after all!

The thing I love about this Winter Candy Apple Cake is how amazing it tastes the next day. So, prepare a day ahead, and check dessert off your list. It’ll be perfect for your holiday parties.

Cake Ingredients

1 C Apple Pie Filling

1 C sugar

1 Stick of Butter

1 tsp. Vanilla

2 Eggs

2 C Flour

1 tsp. Salt

1 tsp. Baking Soda

Candy Crumble topping

1/4 C Butter

1/2 C Flour

1/2 C Sugar

Drizzle Frosting- *Optional

1/3-1/2 C Powder sugar

1 T Milk

First step is your apple pie filling. There are three ways you can do this. Leave them as the size they are, chop them by hand, or toss it into a food processor and give it a whirl.

I usually give them a whirl in my food processor, to make it easy on myself. If you blend it to an apple sauce, you’ve gone too far. In my opinion. I like the apple pie filling, to be small pieces.

In a mixing bowl, add in your butter and sugar. Blend till they are soft and creamy.

Next, add in the eggs, apple pie filling and vanilla.

Final mixing step. In goes the Flour, baking Soda and salt. Don't forget to butter and flour, your baking dish. I used a 9 inch round.

For the candy crumble topping you can either mix it in a food processor, or with a fork. Using the food processor, is a lot easier. In my opinion.

Just toss all the ingredients in and hit the pulse button, till its nice and crumbly.

Sprinkle the candy crumble over the cake. Bake at 350 degrees for 45-55 minutes. Everyone’s ovens are a little different. Mine came out just right at 50 minutes.

Let your cake cool, and then drizzle with the frosting. This is optional, but it sure is pretty with it! To make it, I poured the milk and sugar into a bowl. Use a small whisk, to mix the ingredients. Once the icing is smooth, drizzle it over the top of the cake.

I hope y’all enjoy sharing this Winter Candy Apple Cake with family and friends! Or enjoy it all by yourself. Tis the season of giving, after all. Why not give yourself a piece of cake? Happy holidays y'all!
