Smothered Cornbread Chili
Just looking at these photos makes me wish for a heaping bowl of this Smothered Cornbread Chili! Have y'all tried this dish? Oh goodness! It's heavenly! Do yourself a favor, and make it for dinner tonight!
Here's what you'll need,
Ingredients:
Cornbread:
1 box Cornbread mix
1/2 box yellow cake mix
2 eggs
1 cup milk
1/3 cup oil
Topping:
1/2 stick of butter
1/2 cup honey
Chili:
1 pound hamburger meat
1 can Chili beans, with sauce
1 can white beans, with sauce
1 jar green Salsa Verde
1 cup sour cream
Onion powder, cumin, salt and pepper to taste
Garnish with sour cream and cilantro!
In a mixing bowl stir together the cornbread mix, cake mix, 2 eggs, oil, and milk. Pour into a greased dish, and bake 20- 30 minutes until done! Once the cornbread is out of the oven, smother it with the butter and honey! Feel free to use as much as you like 😉!
In a pot, brown the hamburger with the seasonings. Then add in the beans, Salsa Verde, and sour cream. Let it simmer on low while the sweet cornbread finishes baking!
Now assemble this beauty! In a bowl add a slice of the sweet cornbread, and smother with a scoop of the delicious chili! Add sour cream and cilantro. Yummy! I can't wait for y'all to try this Smothered Cornbread Chili!
