Halloween Butterscotch Apples

These Halloween butterscotch dipped apples with homemade butterscotch are a favorite around our house! We made a batch of this delicious butterscotch on Sunday for General Conference! It's perfect for dipping apples, or pouring over popcorn! Try out this decadent, delicious butterscotch! These dipped apples are festive, and fun! Don't forget the Halloween Sprinkles!

Butterscotch is different from homemade Carmel, which calls for cream, and white sugar. This Butterscotch recipe is made with brown sugar, and it doesn't call for cream, which is great, because I rarely have cream on hand.

Ingredients:

12 - 14 small apples of choice

2 cups of brown sugar

1 can of sweetened condensed milk

1 cup light corn syrup

1 stick of butter

1 teaspoon of butter vanilla

wooden sticks, one per apple

chocolate chips, melted for drizzle, optional

Halloween Sprinkles, optional

Directions: In a a large heavy sauce pan, melt the butter, brown sugar, corn syrup, and can of sweetened condensed milk. Stir the mixture continually over medium heat, until it comes to a boil. Don't leave the pot, you have to keep stir-ing the pot, or the bottom will burn, and ruin the whole batch! I have learned this the hard way! Don't worry this butterscotch is worth it! Once your candy thermometer reaches 245 degrees, its ready. Remove the pot from the heat, and let it cool a bit. Then stir in the butter vanilla. Now it's time for dipping!

Prepare your apples!

Wash and dry the apples. Then insert the stick into the top of each apple. Get your cookie sheet ready. You can line it with greased parchment paper, or use a baking mat, thats what we used. I also sprayed the mat with some cooking spray, there's no way these apples are sticking! I want that beautiful perfect flat bottom of butterscotch! P.S Don't use cold apples, the butterscotch won't stick well.

Dip each apple into the butterscotch, turn it until its evenly coated. I like to tap the apple stick on the side of the pot, to knock off the excess butterscotch. Now place the butterscotch apple onto the baking mat, and sprinkle on Halloween sprinkles, before the butterscotch dries! Keep going until your apples are all dipped! You can also add on a drizzle of melted chocolate!

We sure enjoyed these Halloween Butterscotch dipped Apples! You can see it all over these sweet girlies faces! Next time we'll have to share our Homemade Carmel! Until then, What do you think? Are y'all fans of Butterscotch too?!
